BeoLiving Intelligence Link to Third Party Cloud Service Guide

Introduction

BeoLiving Intelligence has the ability to integrate with different Cloud Services, e.g.: Alexa. Integration level with BeoLiving Intelligence depends on each service.

Some examples of different capabilities are: voice control of specific light or group of lights, thermostats, Bang & Olufsen A/V devices or receive an email when BeoLiving Intelligence fires a specific command or triggers a specific event.

This ability is available in all modes of BeoLiving Intelligence (as it comes from factory and after upgrading to BeoLiving Intelligence PRO).

The scope of this document comprises the necessary knowledge and steps to follow to link BeoLiving Intelligence with third party cloud services.

Linking process

To enable a cloud service with BeoLiving Intelligence a linking process must be done. This linking process is established between BeoLiving Intelligence and the third party cloud service, with Khimo.com (our own cloud service) as an intermediary. For each service, this link could be done on the third party’s mobile application or through their websites.

The linking process for main third party cloud services (Alexa, Google Assistant & IFTTT) goes as follows:

Alexa

  1. Enable Alexa skill
    • Using the Alexa App or entering alexa.amazon.com, head to Skills & Games and search for “BeoLiving Intelligence skill by Khimo”.
    • Press ENABLE TO USE button.
  2. Link to BLI App
    • After enabling the third party app you will be redirected to Khimo.com, where a message asking to continue the linking process in the BeoLiving App will be displayed (if using an iOS device), or a QR code will appear.

At this point to continue with the linking process you could choose between three methods:

  • Continue with the BeoLiving App (using an iOS device) by pressing Use the BeoLiving App and Open and then select which BeoLiving Intelligence (if there is more than one in your network) to link. Then to finish the linking process it’s necessary to go back to the Alexa App, wait while the site refreshes and then press Done.

  • Scan the QR code with the BeoLiving App following the site’s instructions.

  • Login with user and password to Khimo (for BeoLink Gateway users).

The following video shows how to link Alexa using the first method described:

After accomplishing one of these three methods, it’s possible to start using the linked cloud service. For more information about the available voice commands and the devices you may control using Alexa and your BLI, head to the BLI’s Alexa skill guide.

Google Assistant

  1. Add the BLI to you Home Control devices in Google Home
    • Using the Google Home App press on your user icon and head to Assistant settings.
    • In the Assistant tab go to Home control and press on the plus sign (+) to add a device.
    • Search and select the “BeoLiving Intelligence”.
    • You will be redirected to the Khimo.com site
  2. Link to BLI App
    • The Khimo.com site will first ask you to authorize access. Press Next.
    • A message asking to continue the linking process in the BeoLiving App will be displayed (if using an iOS device), or a QR code will appear.

At this point to continue with the linking process you could choose between three methods:

  • Continue with the BeoLiving App (using an iOS device) by pressing Use the BeoLiving App and Open and then select which BeoLiving Intelligence (if there is more than one in your network) to link. Then to finish the linking process it’s necessary to go back to the Google Home App, wait while the site refreshes and then press Done.

  • Scan the QR code with the BeoLiving App following the site’s instructions.

  • Login with user and password to Khimo (for BeoLink Gateway users).

The following video shows how to link Google Home using the first method described:

After accomplishing one of these three methods, it’s possible to start using the linked cloud service. Return to Google Home’s main screen and your integrated equipment will now appear in the app.

IFTTT

  1. Add BLI service to IFTTT
    • Using the IFTTT App or entering ifttt.com, search for “BeoLiving Intelligence” under the services tab and click on the B&O logo.
    • Once on BLI’s page, press the Connect button.
  2. Link to BLI App
    • You will be redirected to Khimo.com, where a message asking to continue the linking process in the BeoLiving App will be displayed if using an iOS device, or a QR code will be displayed if not.

As in Alexa’s connection, at this point you have three options to continue:

  • Continue with the BeoLiving App (using an iOS device) and then select which BeoLiving Intelligence (if there is more than one in your network) to link. Then to finish the linking process it’s necessary to go back to IFTTT’s app.
  • Scan the QR code with the BeoLiving App following the site’s instructions.
  • Login with user and password to Khimo (for BeoLink Gateway users).

After accomplishing one of these three methods, it’s possible to start using IFTTT with your BLI. A tutorial on how to fire Applets through BLI is available, showing an example that illustrates how to find your phone just by pressing a wall button.

The following video shows how to link IFTTT using an iOS device:
